After receiving a BFA in painting from Ohio University I had early success as an artist, with my original work and commissions collected by individuals and institutions. After years of teaching art, raising a family, and some personal battles my activity as a painter slowly slipped away. The pandemic helped me reset my priorities in my life and gave me time to paint again and refocus on making art. Artists need to make art, and I realized that this is what was missing from my life and the joy that comes with creating and sharing my images with others.  The Perception Series (included in the images below) was about this journey to rediscover the artist within and represented my journey to being more open and perceptive to my own senses, my intuition, and to better understand myself and to try and to create these "mindscapes" that convey the wonderful harmony and joy of being in a place where you can enjoy the clarity of your thoughts and senses.
